Burp Cloths

A few months back we discovered we were expecting. Due to prior sad experiences we waited to accept it for a while. This is my first project of many in preparation of baby girl Wright's arrival. The plan is one project a week up to week 30!

I'm told babies make a lot of messes and emit large amounts of goo. Thus the need for goo rags (burp cloths).

I did a lot of research to discover what would be the best way to construct these cloths. I found that using a combination of cloth diaper on one side for maximum absorption and flannel on the other side to prevent slippage was the way to go.

***Fast forward many months and one beautiful goo emitting baby later and these are a daily necessity. Although my little gal doesn't spit up very often she is a messy eater. I lay one of these over the top of my Boppy pillow while nursing and voila, it's like a baby table mat.

Snoopy Gingerbread House

My company hosted a gingerbread house making contest and our team decided to do a Snoopy Christmas theme. I was volunteered to prepare the house pieces and think they turned out pretty great!

I only wish I had a picture of the finished product. My group did a wonderful job decorating the rest of it!

Be Our Guest

I've had this idea for a while, but finally made it a reality:

I bought this piece of cut wood from Hobby Lobby for under $1 on sale and used my silhouette to make a stencil to paint this:

Dot Paintings and Paisley Pillows

When we painted our living room blue and tan I immediately planned to add a lot of color on one wall.

The first thing I did was paint these two colorful dot paintings and hang them on the wall.

And then I made a couple of Paisley Pillows with blue and red accents to tie everything in together.

I spent months searching for the right cabinet and lamp to go with two neutral chairs I'd bought.

I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out!

Cake For the Hubby

"I was tricked! You baked when we were dating and now you don't bake!"

I made him a cake. I have been limiting my baking so I'll limit my eating of said baked goods. I've also been limiting my crafting so that I'm not just making junk to stay busy. I'm being choosy about the items I make to ensure they are useful for me. Makes for less projects and less things to occupy my time and mind, but less waste as well.

Bike Basket Liner

My hubby bought me the most amazing Mother's Day gift, a bike! I quickly decided I wanted a basket. After I decided I wanted a basket I decided it needed a liner. Thusly, here we are:

We have gotten an amazing amount of use out of these bikes. Utah has an amazing trail system and we've taken full advantage.

Memory Catcher

I made this shadow box with a slot on top to capture ticket stubs, gate passes, and any other little trinkets from experiences we have together. It's getting pretty full after just one year!

Forget The World Signs

Life is hard and sometimes life is really hard. This sentiment describes my thoughts and feelings for this whole dang year perfectly:

Room Markers

I always hate walking through people's houses to find the bathroom. First door on the left is a bedroom, or I don't know my left from right, or I take a wrong turn and there is no left.... Either way, I wanted to make it clear for any guests:

Thank You

My team works really hard so I wanted to make them something cute for Employee Appreciation Week:

I attached a $5 Starbucks gift card to each one. Love my Silhouette!
