Matcha Roll Cake

I've always wanted to try making one of these roll cakes and finally gave it a shot!

Hand Pies

Cherry and Lemon Hand Pies!

I didn't take the time to take a very appetizing shot, but they were delicious.

Heart and Star Cookies

You know, just your standard decorated sugar cookies as a thank you for the neighbors:

Emersyn

This is the best thing I've ever made.

She's the beautiful baby I've always dreamed of and I'm so lucky she picked me to be her mom.

Baby Headbands

I really like baby headbands and halos, but I don't like them to be big and bulky. I bought a couple, but made a few myself as well:

Wood Doggy Gate

We have way too many dogs and a baby on the way. I cringe just thinking about dog hair all over my baby. I wanted a gate to go across the stairs and we tried a store bought one, but it didn't quite work. Once again, hubby to the rescue!

I love it!

Custom Baby Onesies

My baby can't wear just any onesies when she's first born, she has to wear something mommy made! I cut heat transfer using my Silhouette.

***Update- Perfect.

Nursery

We decided not to start actually putting the nursery together until I was 20 weeks along. Once that time passed we both jumped into action! Hubby did an amazing job of adding boxes and a chair rail to the walls among all of the other many tasks that I set out for him. He calls this the Pinterest nursery because he thinks it's so perfect you'd see it as inspiration on Pinterest. Just a few more finishing touches to go.

My vision and his physical abilities made this happen. With many of the items made by us it turned out exactly like I wanted! A ton of hard work, but I am so proud :)

Crib Bedding

In addition to the bed skirt and quilt I added in a quilted pillow. Of course for safety the pillow and quilt won't actually be in the bed when the baby is using it, but she can use it later.

Car Seat Cover

I wanted a car seat cover that was a little heavier for winter when I would be switching from breathable muslin blanket, but not as heavy as some of the minky covers I was seeing for sale. I chose two coordinating printed flannel fabrics and got to work.

We bought the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio car seat which is likely the largest car seat known to man. It's also supposed to be the safest. I had to do some modifications to my cover after it was made to keep it from dragging the ground and getting dirty when in use.

Wood Table

I knew I wanted a table for the nursery, but I couldn't seem to find one that I really liked. Thank goodness hubby is such a skilled craftsman!

I couldn't have come up with anything that was more perfect for this room.

Name Sign

I purchased a cutout of Emersyn's name to go on the wall of her nursery and her dad had a much cooler idea. I had no idea he was so crafty, but he's amazing!

Next up, get this guy a scroll saw so he can make these things from scratch!

Changing Pad Covers

You know I could have just bought changing pad covers, but who would have ever thought of that?! Truly I am too OCD to have changing pad covers that only kind of matched the crib bedding so I had to make my own. I used a combination of printed cotton and plain flannel for these. They turned out really nicely and fit great.

I made three of these in varying coordinating fabrics.

Baby Blankets

Several weeks in a row I went kind of crazy making various baby blankets in different fabrics, designs, and patterns.

First project, self binding yellow dotted minky with floral flannel:

Second project, simple double sided heart minky:

Third project, self binding girl with fox flannel and black dotted minky:

Fourth project, tied pink floral fleece:

Fifth project, simple doll flannel with black dotted minky:

Safe to say baby girl is going to have her choice of favorite blankey.

Crib Skirt

This is one of the most involved pieces I've ever done. I love how it turned out, but I'll never ever ever do it again!

I thought about using the same fabrics that I used for the quilt, but decided to go with some different coordinating fabrics.

E is for Emersyn

We are naming our baby girl Emersyn! We loved the name Emi, but wanted to give her a full name to go with the nickname we really loved. I plan to add this "E" to my wall collage in the nursery.

Painted Jars

I'm not sure where I came up with all the ideas for the nursery, but this one is from Pinterest. I want to do some shelves with knick knacks and thought these painted jars would be a simple way to tie in my color scheme.

Changing Pads

I had never worked with PUL before. My sister suggested I make a pad to go under a high chair using the stuff, but I opted for changing pads. We've got dogs to clean up the mess under the high chair ;)

***Update - these work great! The best use I've found for them is to put them over the changing pad I have on my changing table when baby has had a blow out O_O! This makes for easier clean up.

Nursery Signs

I want to do a collage on the wall so I've come up with a couple inspirational signs to go with it. I cut these out using my Silhouette:

I will be putting these in gold and mint frames.

Rag Quilt

When I began thinking of the decor for the nursery I went and picked out some fabric to make the bedding. I wanted coral, peach, mint, gold, and white.

I really like how the blanket turned out and will feature the fully ragged finished product when I finish the whole bedding set.

Arrows Part 2

After the first set of arrows for the nursery hubby decided to make some for downstairs.

Perfect for any direction life might take us.

Ragged Bibs

I made one of these bibs for my niece several years back and included it here on my blog. You will see one in this group that looks just like it. I had one more scrap of fabric just perfect to make one of these for my own little girl.

I thought about making some of the bandana bibs, but went with the traditional for now. Maybe someday.

Arrows

I wanted some kind of arrow design in the nursery so hubby came up with this:

I really like it!

Pacifier Clips

Nothing too fancy about these. I do like that I can customize the ribbons I want to use to make these match what my baby might be wearing.

***Update - considering my baby girl only likes the Soothie pacifiers so far I can't use these unless I modify them with some kind of string to go through the small holes on those pacifiers.

Hooded Towels and Wash Cloths

I actually made three sets of these, but didn't take pictures of the other two. My hope is that these will work well and be soft enough for baby girl. I did a combination of terry cloth inside and printed flannel on the outside.

***Update - These have worked out great and are so much better than the flimsy store bought versions. They soak up a lot of moisture and keep lil one dry.

Super Bowl Cookies

My attempt at football cookies for our work Super Bowl party. Someone quickly pointed out that I did laces out instead of in.

These weren't my typical. They have soft chocolate frosting.

Burp Cloths

A few months back we discovered we were expecting. Due to prior sad experiences we waited to accept it for a while. This is my first project of many in preparation of baby girl Wright's arrival. The plan is one project a week up to week 30!

I'm told babies make a lot of messes and emit large amounts of goo. Thus the need for goo rags (burp cloths).

I did a lot of research to discover what would be the best way to construct these cloths. I found that using a combination of cloth diaper on one side for maximum absorption and flannel on the other side to prevent slippage was the way to go.

***Fast forward many months and one beautiful goo emitting baby later and these are a daily necessity. Although my little gal doesn't spit up very often she is a messy eater. I lay one of these over the top of my Boppy pillow while nursing and voila, it's like a baby table mat.
